Domestic Septic Design, Inc. (DSD) was founded by Daniel B. Johnson in 1991 and Incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1997. DSD is a service/consulting company specializing in designing Subsurface Sewage Disposal Systems (septic systems) and since 1995, performing Title 5 Inspections of septic systems.
Daniel B. Johnson, President has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology - Environmental from Norwich University (Military College of Vermont) in 1985. Mr. Johnson is a Registered Sanitarian (R.S. #1077), an Approved Soil Evaluator (S.E. #1137) and a Certified Title 5 System Inspector (S1962) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
DSD has designed over 2000 septic systems, ranging from conventional gravity septic system design for a residential home to a large commercial property using a DEP approved alternative technology such as a "Presby" Enviro-Septic System. In addition, DSD has designed a conventional pump septic system for a small "sub" shop to designing a septic system for a restaurant using another DEP approved alternative technology, "Microfast" system, to pretreat the septic effluent. DSD has also used a DEP approved alternative technology such as a "Waterloo Biofilter" to prevent a "mounded" leaching area, etc.
DSD has decades of experience in soil testing and performing percolation testing, specifically within Hamilton/Wenham and surrounding Towns. This extensive on site field experience allows DSD to customize the location and minimize the cost in designing and installing a septic system. DSD has an excellent working relationship with the local Board of health agents, contractors and realtors to provide smooth transition for homeowners during the inspection, design and installation of a septic system.
